Flint Lead Poisoning Might Be a Nationwide Problem

Many people have been worried about the crisis in Flint, Michigan because of the poisoning on the pipes for nearly 2 years. Little do people know, Flint is not the only city in danger. The problem is much bigger!

These lead pipes are used all across the country. Almost 10 million American homes receive water from service lines that are partially lead. Even though these lead pipes are life threatening the government has not done anything to try to fix the problem.

The federal Safe Drinking Water Act (SDWA) require water systems and state regulators to monitor lead levels. Corrosion barriers are installed inside the pipes to stop lead particles from traveling into people's faucets. If the lead levels are too high, the pipes must be changed.

Sadly, even though they might change the pipes there is still a risk that the lead could get back into the water.

Flint is a warning to our water systems if we do not find a solution.
